China hopes to get its national blockchain standardization committee in place before the end of this calendar year, according to an official from the country’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. At a keynote speech in the 2018 Guiyang Big Data Expo on Saturday, Li Ying, head of the IT ministry’s Information and Software Department, stated the committee structure will be based on that of TC 307, a counterpart blockchain commission of the International Organization for Standardization. The plan is to get a detailed framework for blockchain criteria complete at the end of 2018, she added – confirming a plan announced by the Chinese government representatives earlier this month.

Li stated. We’ve been working closely with the ISO and the International Telecommunications Union. We should soon have our national technical committee for blockchain standardization prepared within this year” . The official’s remarks come right following China’s IT ministry revealed its own schedule to standardize blockchain application development – the aim being, as Li explained, to expedite blockchain installation in areas that most desperately need the nascent tech” . As previously reported by CoinDesk, whilst the nation is a participating member of the ISO’s TC 307 commission, that concentrates on standard framework for the use of blocking in authentication and intelligent contracts, the ministry said in March 2018 that it’s looking to construct the nation’s own initiative around standardization.

A study laboratory directly supervised by the IT ministry has already moved to run monthly evaluations of important people blockchains in an attempt to make a standard rating system.
