Dish Network, one of the primary large companies to accept bitcoin as a method of payment, has announced it today also accepts bitcoin cash. The service for a second cryptocurrency comes a full 4 years after the U.S.-based subscription Television provider first decided to take bitcoin in the year 2014. In the time it was the world’s largest firm to accept bitcoin for its providers, boasting 14 million subscribers. Dish customers are now able to utilize both cryptocurrencies to pay for a monthly subscription and pay-per view movies. In accordance with the release, clients must send the precise quantity of bitcoin or bitcoin cash needed to do an one time payment on either its web site or set top box.

We have added the liquor quotation as we chose to accept a bitcoin to serve clients who’ve adopted a brand new way of conducting business, said Dish executive VP and COO John Swieringa into a media release. Alongside the statement, Dish signaled it’s switched its crypto payment processor and will use the services provided by BitPay, saying the move provides a greater degree of choice and comfort to customers. BitPay is among the largest cryptocurrency payment suppliers. It notably raised $40 million in a Series B financing round in April. Discussing the integration with Dish, BitPay CCO Sonny Singh said: Cryptocurrency is an increasingly popular way for consumers to make purchases on-line because it reduces credit card fraud which is more affordable for the merchants.
